Systems Engineer

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our business development team in USA to support on pre-sales and deployment engineering tasks along the entire lifecycle of our engagements with customers. As Systems Engineer, you will be the technical interface of YBVR in front of our customers and you will also be responsible for working with our development team in Madrid, Spain on customer-related architecture changes and integrations. 

Qualified systems engineers will have a video-centric background of the architecture of video streaming platforms, IT, and computer systems engineering. 

In this position, you will be working with customers mainly in USA and Canada, which will require part-time travel. We offer flexible hours and remote working as a possibility. 


  • Be YBVR´s technical interface in front of our North America customers 
  • Prepare and deliver high level technical product presentations and answer technical questions 
  • Understand our customers’ needs, and translate them into requirements to be shared and discussed with the development team 
  • Design custom solutions and architectures using both YBVR and 3PP components 
  • Understand our customers’ existing solutions and technologies and design the integrations between existing systems and our products 
  • Implement customer integrations whenever support from the development team is not required 
  • Work with the development team in Madrid, Spain on any new features or product modifications required by our customers 
  • Install, configure and test YBVR´s solutions in customer deployments 
  • Provide technical support to existing customers 
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution 
  • Gather and structure customer feedback to the development team in order to continuously improve the quality of the solution 

Required Qualifications  

  • A video-centric generalist background, with some degree of experience on many of the components of a typical video streaming pipe 
  • Good understanding of the architecture of video streaming platforms 
  • Solid experience with Linux systems, and troubleshooting skills 
  • Scripting skills of writing simple Linux Shell scripts, and debugging complex ones 
  • Basic knowledge of IP networking (TCP/UPD, routing, etc.) 
  • Solid experience troubleshooting network problems with network analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.) 
  • Solid experience with HTTP Streaming, web servers configuration and troubleshooting 
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), including automated cloud deployment tools (Terraform) 
  • Experience with CDN integration 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team 
  • Analytical thinker, capable of translating business requirements into solution architecture 
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, unafraid of learning new skills 
  • Fluent English speaker 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related subject, or relevant professional experience 
  • 2+ years’ experience in system integration 
  • Experience working in the telco or video streaming industry 
  • Knowledge of Open Source video tools (Ffmpeg, GStreamer) 
  • Previous experience with APAC customers is desired but not required 
  • Experience with VR/AR, Mobile and Web development is a plus
